Boosted Phrases in ElevateAI Echo Real-Time Transcription (RTT) improve accuracy for uncommon or domain-specific terms.
By assigning higher recognition priority to designated phrases, ElevateAI increases transcription confidence for brand names, acronyms, and specialized terminology.
A Boosted Phrase can be a single word or short phrase. During transcription, these terms receive higher weighting in the language model, increasing the likelihood of accurate recognition – even when parsing noisy audio or if the words being used sound like other words.
// When to use Boosted Phrases
Boosted Phrase are especially effective for use with:
- Industry terms and acronyms common in regulated sectors
- Product, feature, or brand names required exact spelling
- Commands or trigger phrases for voice workflows
- Proper nouns like people, companies, or locations

// Things to Keep in Mind: Limitations & Behaviors
Using Boosted Phrases does not guarantee recognition; it only increases the probability that the intended phrase is used in your transcription efforts. Additionally, please note that:
- Each API token supports up to 50 Boosted Phrases per language
- When the 50 Boosted Phrases limit is reached, existing entries must be deleted before adding new ones
- Duplicate phrases are automatically ignored
- The limit counter updates as Boosted Phrases are added or removed
- Tokens can contain multiple language lists, but only one list per language
- Boosted Phrases list order does not affect priority; all boosted terms are weighted equally
- Boosted Phrases lists are automatically applied during transcription when the associated API token is used
- To use Echo Real-Time Transcription without Boosted Phrases, be sure to use a token that does not have a Boosted Phrase list defined.
PRO TIP: Use the Boosted Phrases feature selectively: over boosting can reduce accuracy by increasing false matches. Focus on high-value terms that consistently impact results.
// Using Boosted Phrases
1. Manage at the API Token Level
- Boosted Phrases lists are attached to specific API tokens, allowing token-level customization
- For example, your Customer Support token might include different phrases than your Sales token
2. Access the Phrase Editor
- Log into the ElevateAI Portal <app.elevateai.com>
- Your security level within your account determines your access to the Boosted Phrases list

- Navigate to Manage API Tokens
- Locate the desired token and select Edit Phrases to open the Phrase Editor UI
- Only account Owners or Admin can edit a Boosted Phrase list
3. Select a Language
- Choose the language you wish to edit
- Each API token supports one Boosted Phrases list per language
NOTE: A dot next to a language indicates that there is an existing Boosted Phrases list
4. Add or Edit Phrases
- Click Add Phrase to create a new entry, then enter your Boosted Phrases terms
- Click Save to attach the updated list to the token
- The phrase limit counter will update when you add a new word/phrase
- You can add up to 50 words to be boosted during transcription
- Two word phrases will count as two words towards your limit
5. Delete or Copy Lists
- To Delete a Boosted Phrases pair, click the Trash icon beside the entry
- To Copy a Boosted Phrases pair from another token, select Copy From and select which token to copy the Boosted Phrases list from
Copied phrases must be in the same language as the original token
Boosted Phrases can be copied from one token to another but can only move across the same language selection. Coping a list could result in the limit being exceeded. Lists exceeding the limit must be reduced before saving.
- ElevateAI will return a list of tokens, allowing you to select the list of Boosted Phrases you want to copy from
- A dot next to a language indicates that there is an existing Boosted Phrases list on that token
6. Disable Boosted Phrases
- To transcribe without Boosted Phrase, use a token that does not have an associated list.
- To remove the Boosted Phrase feature completely, delete or disassociate the list in the portal.

- Apply boosts to high impact, high variance terms
- Avoid boosting generic or common words
- Evaluate results regularly and refine lists per vertical or language
- Use version control across your lists before making major edits
- Keep lists concise to minimize performance overhead
- Use descriptive token names to simplify multi-list management
- Test results regularly to validate accuracy improvements
PRO TIP: Start with 10-15 critical phrases per language – testing transcription accuracy – and expand only if performance improves.
